Pet Products Marketing Plan

College student starting own “business”- what are some missed markets?

I’ve got very little start up money. Some ideas i’ve heard are freelance document typers for lawyers/writers and doing research in libraries for authors/students….

Would love to hear any ideas–not interested in “givens” like baking, lawn care, child/pet sitting…

Any info can help or even just a personal experience story with how you personally went about finding/developing a business plan or idea.

Oh, and who will I need to contact in case i need permits/forms.

Any website you know of would be great too. I’m heading to the library tomorrow to research what i would need to do, but would like to go in there armed with “product/service” ideas and with some kind of plan on what other aspects I need to research. Thanks =)

You can

try primerica – for about 200 they get you licensed to sell life insurance. It can be really good, but only if you have some personal connection in the beginning with people that want better life insurance – there are bad and good kinds, and primerica does offer the good kinds – but you have to be good with people

The only other one is become an experienced seller on ebay
buy stuff cheaply, sell it for more and do that over and over by hunting bargains and then selling them for whatever they are worth.

I personally hate most small businesses – try not to get into something to do with food – too much regulation
alcohol – same thing – but maybe its different in canada
and something that needs you to be there during all business hours with long hours.

Business plans can be pulled from the net – Its basically you selling your business idea to the bank or investor and showing how your business is feasible. Lawn care is actually a good one – cut the grass, put fertilizer on it, and if you get better at it install sprinkler systems etc. A guy told me he did that and he eventually made 14,000 from that over the summer – doing a lot of lawns in an area, and then he hired a guy that did it for him.

I personally want to do real estate – because 20% markup on a $10 item, or 4-5% on a 200,000 item makes a big difference.

My strategy in the future will be this – become a real estate lawyer – so you have steady cash coming in – in canada per deal you get about $700 per house transaction you do and it can’t be that much work. I’m going to learn everything about real estate, landscaping, real estate agents, inspection, maintanence, and most importantly finding good buys and avoiding bad ones.

I also heard especially in the states that there are tax sales of properties, you pay the overdue property tax and you get the house – so sometimes you can get amazing deals and with a little work flip the house and make lots of cash that way.

Best of luck to you.
